OUR STORY
It Started with a Neighborhood Meat Market
In March 1973, Michael Colasurdo, Sr. opened A & M Meat Market in Jersey City, New Jersey. One year later, he brought the family business to Brick Township, beginning a story that would grow across generations and become the Mulberry Street Italian Food Center the community knows today.
THE FAMILY BEHIND MULBERRY STREET
What Michael Colasurdo, Sr. began in 1973 continues through the Colasurdo family today with Michael Jr and Ralph. Across generations, they have preserved the values at the heart of Mulberry Street: authentic Italian food, uncompromising quality, hard work, and genuine care for every customer who walks through the door.

The Details Make the Difference
For the Colasurdo family, quality is personal. Every cut, every ingredient, and every dish receives the same attention and care they have brought to their work for generations. It’s not simply about preparing food; it’s about doing things properly and proudly serving something worthy of your family’s table.
A PIECE OF OUR HISTORY
Inspired by the Neighborhoods That Shaped Us
This mural once covered a wall inside Mulberry Street, capturing the spirit of old New York’s Little Italy and the Italian-American neighborhood markets that inspired our family. Although the original mural no longer exists, it remains a meaningful part of the Mulberry Street story.
